You may find there are community and Hospital based services in your area. This is the case in Hertfordshire, I work for East and North Herts NHS Trust (Acute Hospital setting and do clinics across East and North Herts and support inpatients with Parkinson's).


There are also services that cover West Herts both Acute and community settings. All patients with a diagnosis should have access to a Nurse specialist for education, support and medications management.


Which service you have access to will depend on the individual service structure. NICE Guidance states everyone suspected of having Parkinson's should be referred to a specialist for assessment and diagnosis, that can be Neurology or a care of the elderly specialist.


As well as local services we have links with specialist centres and we work with them collaboratively for example:


Movement disorders, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Neurosurgery department, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
